And then it all went black...Day 2 with Despicable Darko...



Okay the piece is completely sculpted, now time to paint? Well sort of, when I sculpt I do a lot of carving in the clay, making deposits, and gashes in the piece. What I like to do next is paint it all black, often this takes two coats. Painting it all black will save you from painting more later, plus gives a nice dark undertone, which you want with a great Halloween piece. I make sure to get a good thick coat of black especially in the carved areas, this also helps with the antique feel that you will see once the piece is painted. Pretty simple step, just time consuming when you apply 2-3 coats, but so worth it!! Stop back by tomorrow when we start to add...COLOR!!
